The Two Faces of War (As Duas Faces da Guerra) – is a documentary shot in Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde and Portugal, which includes a series of interviews and testimonies of people who lived through the colonial period of the war / liberation in Guinea-Bissau. This documentary, directed by Diana Andringa and Flora Gomes, sets the tone for a debate around the themes of reconciliation and historical memory in post-conflict Portuguese colonial war. Remarkably, within the Guinea-Bissau fight for independence, the seed of Portugal’s own freedom was begun. It was in Guinea-Bissau that the “Army Movement” begun, which led to the Carnation Revolution that toppled the dictatorship in Portugal.
